Fantasy Survivor Week 7

Finally someone decided to step up and make a sweet move. Although it was completely awesome and you need to back stab in Survivor, I'm not quite sure what to think about Sugar's betrayal of Ace. It could pan out for her, but I felt that Ace was going to help her along to get as far as the two of them could. As long as she had the idol and the two of them were close, they could get far in the game. He already turned down Matty's idea to get rid of her a couple of times. Never the less, I enjoy a good back stab. That is, on reality television I do, not in real life (like a certain Jewish singer some of us know). Oh and by the way, Mags is running away with this thing.

Tag, I'm It

So The Boss tagged me via his blog about his ex-fighting pit bull found here. I figured I might get fired if I don't go along with this game of blog tag, so I will adhere to some of the rules stated above.

Because I don't feel comfortable coming up with seven interesting things about myself, I have decided to go double duty and share one interesting thing about 14 different people...

  • Larry's favorite show on television right now is Gossip Girl.
  • Jon the Bon is always hungry but never finishes his food.
  • Tyson makes frequent trips to his Alma Mater to watch Benedict Arnold sing.
  • Jayj wears fluffy socks year round.
  • Braids gave up on the Wii after trying for 30 seconds.
  • Jaydon spends 24 hours a day with the lights off and leaves the window open during the winter in NY.
  • Bonz does a tremendous impression of Bruce Dickinson.
  • T-time has an unbelievable idea for a new theme park resort area that will never come to fruition.
  • Mags missed to basketball games at VC with an ankle because he jumped out of a second story window.
  • Bird loves hanging out with security guards.
  • Pack always has the best fantasy football seasons with the worst fantasy football teams.
  • Buddens drinks out of the side of his mouth at all times.
  • Lochness claims to be a fan of Lost and The Office, but never watches them.
  • Rob is so nuts that I can't think of anything interesting to say about him that isn't completely inappropriate for this blog.
By rules of this game, I now will tag as many people as I can...

Drinking Kool-Aid

By far the most overused phrase in sports this fall, mostly in football, is drinking the kool aid. Everyone is either drinking or not drinking the Titans kool aid because they're 6-0 but weren't predicted to make the playoffs by many analysts. A lot of people were drinking the Kyle Orton kool aid when he had three weeks in a row of 300 yards. Not many were drinking the Gus Bus kool aid when he came in at quarterback for the Vikings.

I don't know where this phrase originated from, but I enjoyed it when I first heard it. But now that I hear it everyday on Fantasy Focus Podcast, Football Today Podcast, Around the Horn and PTI, I wish that these guys would come up with many more clever and witty phrases like this, instead of overusing and ruining such a good line.

Fantasy Survivor Week 6

This fantasy survivor thing is all well and good, but I have hated three out of my four players the entire time. I was happy when GC and Kelly were booted and I am sad that Crystal isn't gone yet. I really don't want to win this, and am cheering for my own Bob from Maine, Matty, Sugar and Kenny.

Wednesday Wonders

On today's BS Report with Bill Simmons, Bill had my man Matthew Berry (left) on with him. I have really begun to love Matthew Berry after listening to his Fantasy Focus Podcast. That being said, I had a major problem with what happened on today's BS Report Podcast. An e-mailer, trying to get into Matt and Bill's Fantasy Bball league (note I also entered, but failed) mentioned that his favorite fictional basketball player was D'Shawn Hardell (below). This obviously got the two guys on a tangent, for they love 90210. Berry made a comment that it was hilarious that D'Shawn was supposed to this great basketball player but was like the same height as Brandon Walsh. This threw me through a huge loop! Is Matthew Berry actually a fan of 90210?!? Because what I remember about D'Shawn was that he was a beast! He towered over Brandon and everyone else on the show. After finishing the podcast I went over to IMDB to make sure my memories served me right. Sure enough, Cress Williams, who played D'Shawn, is 6'5" compared to Jason Priestley's 5'8" stature. Was Matt Berry really watching these episodes? Or was he researching fantasy football and just listening to 90210...although that doesn't make much sense either because his fantasy advice is never that good (Sit LJ against the Broncos). On a related note, there are many cases on television and the movies when casting doesn't do a good enough job a getting an actor that looks the part of an athlete. Case and point, another 90210, Cal U sport star, Joe Bradley. This guy was supposed to be the starting quarterback at a big time Division 1 school. Aside from being 5'10" at best (IMDB has no height listed), he was as scrawny as they come. When Steve Young, Joe's idol, appeared on an episode, he made Joe look like a little girl. And Young, at 6'2" is below the NFL average height for a quarterback. Matthew Berry what were you thinking???

Roy Williams

In breaking news that the Dallas Cowboys have acquired Wide Receiver Roy Williams from the Lions, the ultimate goal is almost achieved. The Cowboys have had Safety, Roy Williams on their team for years now.

The addition of WR Roy Williams only
leaves one more to go. It is at this time that everyone and their brother should be informing Jerry Jones that after he lets Wade Phillips go at the end of this year,

there is only one man for the job. Current North Carolina basketball coach Roy Williams should be given as much money as it takes to tear him away from his alma mater. How hard is it to let the offensive and defensive coordinators do their jobs. Just yell at the players every once in a while and it will be just like Chapel Hill. Come on Jerry, give us all we want.

Fantasy Survivor Week 4

So in week four they switched up the tribes and Red (Fang) is still worse. The worst part is that I now have three of my players on Fang and only one on Kota. Mags is now split 2 and 2, Jaydon had 2 and 2 until one of his reds, Jacquie, was eliminated last night, and Lar has two yellow and one red. I fell behind Mags and Larry moved past Jaydon beause of his elimination. My Kelly got votes against her and is in trouble next week if red loses immunity again.

Top 10 Oct. 9ths

As my birthday is around the corner and I begin the last year of my early 20s, I will commemorate this great day with my top ten list of people born the same day as me (October 9th).

I'll start off by saying that the top five were easy but then six through ten were very difficult because I didn't feel like any of them deserved to be this high on such an important list. That being said, if I threw myself in, I'd put me at #2.

10. Eddie Guerrero- Eddie Guerrero was a professional wrestler that spent most of his time in the WCW when wrestling was big. He also wrestled for ECW and WWE once WCW was bought out by WWF. His in-ring gimmick was that he was a crafty resourceful wrestler that would do anything to win a match. His catch phrase was "cheat to win," and for that alone he makes my top ten.

9. Spencer Grammer- Spencer is the daughter of Dr. Frasier Crane, also known as Kelsey Grammer. She stars on the ABC Family show Greek and has the innate ability to make an endless amount of tv moments awkward.

8. Kenny Anderson- Kenny Anderson was a point guard in the NBA from 1991 to 2006. His notable stints were his first five years in the league with the Nets, then two seasons with the Blazers and most New Englanders will remember his four years with the Celtics. The thing that really gets him on the list is that he has seven children, one of which is with DJ Spinderella of Salt 'n Pepa fame and two with Real World contestant, Tami Akbar. Of his seven children, two sons are named Ken Jr. and one daughter is named Kenni. That is George Foremanesque.

7. Randy Spelling- Randy is the son of TV producer Aaron Spelling and brother of actress Tori Spelling. While I loved many aspects of Beverly Hills, 90210, Randy gave me many of the 'I hate this kid, get him off the screen!' moments that I cherish. I always say that a truly fantastic television show has to have characters that you can't stand, or there would be way too much bliss. He was a very bad actor while playing Steve Sanders younger brother on 90210 and that's why he makes this list.

6. Jackson Browne- Jackson Browne is a singer-songwriter most influential in the 70s. Two of his biggest hits Somebody's Baby, which was in the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and Running On Empty from the same titled album of 1978. Jackson got started as a songwriter and wrote many songs for Joan Baez, Linda Ronstadt, The Byrds and The Eagles early in his career.

5. Darius Miles- Darius Miles still plays in the NBA and was signed by the Celtics for this upcoming season. He is most known by me for his first two seasons in the league with the Clippers. He and Quentin Richardson created their signature "fists on top of the head thing" that just took off. He also had fantastic appearences in The Perfect Score and Van Wilder.

4. Gavin Maloof- Gavin Maloof is a member of the Maloof family who are most known for owning the Sacremento Kings and the Palms Casino in Las Vegas. The Maloofs bought the Fiesta Casino in 1994 for $8 million and then sold it for $185 million in 2000. They turned that profit into the Palms Resort. Gavin jumps up many spots on my list for the Maloof Brothers' many appearences on one of my favorite shows, Las Vegas.

3. Scott Bakula- Scott Bakula is an actor most notable for his time on tv shows Quantum Leap and Star Trek: Enterprise, but I've never seen either of those. He gets the three spot for his fantastic performance in Necessary Roughness. Bakula plays the ex-high school football star, now in his late 30s, who never played college because of his father's death. Bakula also was great for me in Major League

2. John Lennon- John Lennon needs no introduction. Although I feel that the Beatles are overrated in general, it is mostly McCartney that brings them down. Lennon was great and I still enjoy one of his solo efforts, 'Oh Yoko,' more than any Beatles song. As a bonus, Paul Rudd played a hilarious Lennon in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.

1. Zachary Ty Bryan- Yeah sure he was on Home Improvement, and I didn't really enjoy him or any of the three kids on the show. This doesn't take away from the fact that he was the star of one of the most incredibly underrated and least known comedic movies of our time. Bryan played the lead role in the Disney Channel Original movie "Principal Takes a Holiday." Starring with Kevin Nealon, this movie has led to about 20% of the lines used in my household in the past ten years.

Best 2 Hours on Television

Monday night on NBC is truly incredible. There is no better one-two punch on tv than Chuck and Heroes.

Sure I watch 24 for action, I watch One Tree Hill for romance and I watch 30 Rock for comedy. Chuck is the only show on television that legitimately pulls these three aspects together for an unbelievable hour of non-stop action. If you are not currently watching Chuck, I strongly suggest you start. "And what bands are you in to?"- Chuck

Heroes last night gave us such a wealth of information and made us ask so many more questions. It truly is back from last year's questionable mini-season. Sylar has been unbelievable so far. He names his kid after Noah, awesome. The ambiguity that I am left with about who is good and who is bad during the 'four years in the future' segment is awesome. Isn't Peter always good? It doesn't seem that way. There will be another Ali Larter character after Tracy bites the dust? All in all, Nathan is still my man and I think will always be my favorite character.

TV Tops 10/4

Top Eps
1. Heroes- Sylar working with the company as HRG's partner was unbelievable. I can only hope it continues. I almost lost it when he came in to save Noah by using the force to stop the villains. Sylar was so intrigued by the dudes voice power that he just had to have it...he gets hungry for more powers.

2. Chuck- I'm so glad Chuck's back. The characters are really what make this show. Sure there is great comedic value in the writing and the action is fun, but I love seeing Chuck and Morgan and Sarah and Casey and Awesome and Ellie every time they're on screen.

3. Fringe- Best new show on tv so far. Abrams seems to have done it again, although sometimes I get freaked out by the yucky science experiments.

4. Worst Week- This new comedy is very funny so far. That being said I can't see it lasting as it is very gimmicky. I was laughing out loud plenty of times at Sam's (T-mobile commerical-esque quirks). I also was closing my eyes at times because the awkward moments were close to those in The Office.

5. Entourage
6. Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles
7. Gossip Girl
8. My Name Is Earl
9. Dirty Sexy Money
10. Privileged

Top Performances
1. Gabriel Sylar- Heroes
2. Morgan Grimes- Chuck

5. Cappie- Greek
6. Patrick Jane- The Mentalist
7. Randy Hickey- My Name Is Earl
8. Megan Smith- Privileged
9. Walter Bishop- Fringe
10. Stewie Griffon- Family Guy

Top Quotes
1. From Heroes
Sylar- "And we're gonna need some coffee, decaf!...You drink decaf right Noah?"

2. From Greek
Cappie- "You're insane Chip"
Dale- "It's Dale"
Cappie- "Right, I knew it was one of them"

3. From Chuck
Chuck- "Somebody order drive through? Did ya think that up as you were racing over to save us?...Hey maybe I'll say this after I crash into the restaurant."

4. From My Name Is Earl
Earl- "You know Randy, since Bill's imaginary, you could imagine him sober if you want."
Randy- "If only it were that easy Earl. It's not enough for me to want it, Bill's gotta want to be sober for himself."

5. From Gossip Girl
Dan- "I've come to the conclusion that I need to get out of my comfort zone...I need to experience new things."
Chuck- "Are you gay?"

Fantasy Survivor Week 3

So in week three the terrible Red Squad (Fang) actually won both the Reward and Immunity Challenges and gained a lot of points for Larry's team. Poor Lar couldn't make up any ground though because his one member of the Yellow Tribe (Kota) was eliminated and subtracted 28 points from him. I caught up to Mags because he only has one Red Tribe member. Also Jay's fake accented Ace received minuses for getting votes cast against him at the tribal meeting. Here are the standings so far with this weeks points.
