Fantasy Survivor Championship
So Mags won the Inaugural Bro Out Survivor Fantasy League. My boy Bob from Maine took home the Million Dollar prize for actually winning Survivor. The ending of our league has to change a bit. Maybe extra points for votes you get at the end. We'll see what tweaks we make for the spring edition of Fantasy Survivor.

Fantasy Survivor Week 12
What were they thinking? Okay I like the move for Sugar to switch sides again, but why get rid of Crystal? She has not won any challenges and has been Kenny's pawn the entire game. Sugar knew this! Bad move, bad move. Mags is the only one with two players left and looks in the clear for the championships. The scoring didn't seem to work out that making it further was the most important thing. We'll have to change that for next year. A more exponential system.

Best Christmas Movies 1 and 2
2. Jingle All the Way- It is definitely Turbo Time year round at my house. Just the other day I was at the mall and all of the stores were out of Turbo Man, thankfully there were plenty of Turbo Man's faithful sidekick, Booster. Jingle All the Way is the story of a terrible Dad that is trying to do one thing right in his life and get his son the toy that he so desperately wants. Although Sinbad isn't up to par with his performance from Houseguest, Phil Hartman is so it's okay. Arnold really should've done some more comedy before getting into politics, cause this was a gem. Little Anikan Skywalker also puts forth a quality performance (all I need to see is his enjoyment of Turbo Man cereal). Bomb (movie game) all-star EJ De La Pena is great as Anikan's best friend and steals the show with "Dad, why do you smell like barf?"
1. Home Alone 2- So maybe I'm out of the loop on this one, but I thought it was common knowledge that Home Alone 2 was better than Home Alone. I've been told recently that it isn't true that everyone in the world likes 2 better than 1. Hmm, I put a poll on the right to see what other people think (although it might end with three total votes). I'm pretty sure it's similar to the Mighty Ducks situation in which D2 is definitely better than 1. Both Home Alone and Mighty Ducks are good but aren't nearly as good as the sequels. TMNT is a completely different story. Although I enjoy Secret of the Ooze more than the original TMNT, I can definitely see how some would like the first better. With Home Alone I can't see how you could like 1 more than 2. Kevin is better, Marv is better, the auxiliary characters are better (Rob Schneider, Tim Curry), the location is better (New York at Christmas time, c'mon). As I am writing this, I have realized that the Bird Lady might be the sole reason for someone liking 1 better than 2. If this is the case for you, I can respect that. She is the worst. To end I will leave you with this. "Merry Christmas Harry." "Happy Hannakah Marv." Classic.

Best Christmas Movies 4 and 3
4. Home alone- Home Alone is a classic Christmas story in which a family goes on vacation for the holidays but forgets to bring their youngest child. Like I said, classic. From “Look what you did ya little jerk” a la Uncle Frank to “Buzz, your girlfriend, woof” courtesy Kevin McCallister himself, Home Alone is filled with lines galore. I don’t know how many times Kevin’s classic “For the kids” has been used at my house. Some might downgrade this movie because it’s just a couple of guys getting hit by stupid gags, but it really is much more than that. Any and every one of Marv’s reactions to a trick is comedy gold. The great Juice Box has stated in my presence that “Marv might be the greatest movie character of all time.” His words not mine.
3. Elf- I have said it before and I’ll say it again, Buddy the Elf may be my favorite Will Ferrell character. His innocence and ignorance provide for a beautiful combination. After Buddy finds out that he is actually a human amongst elves at the North Pole, he heads for New York to find his real father. Why does he want to find his father? So they can “make ginger bread houses and maybe even hold hands.” Although his dad, played by Jimmy Caan, thinks Buddy is insane, he takes him into his home for the duration of the movie. Buddy screws many things up in his dad’s life by making spaghetti with maple syrup for breakfast and cramming eleven cookies into the vcr. Of course Buddy ends up changing his dad from a jerk into a nice guy who believes in Santa by the end.

Best Christmas Movies 7-5
7.Bad Santa- Do you like fat little kids that like to fix sandwiches? How about drunken criminal Santa Clauses? If you said yes to either one of these things then you will love Bad Santa. Billy Bob Thornton lives his life as Santa at the mall and then breaks into the mall at the end of the season to steal enough money to live off of until next Christmas. Although Billy Bob’s antics as a complete jerk are great, it is the Kid that steals the show. Billy Bob’s “They can’t all be winners,” is a mainstay in my house.
6. Ernest Saves Christmas- This is my favorite Ernest movie (Goes to Jail and Goes to Camp are close second and third). Ernest works as a cab driver in Orlando where he picks up Santa. Santa is there to pass along his duties to some dude who has his own childrens' tv show. Santa runs into a problem convincing the nice guy to take the gig, but eventually it happens. Ernest is there along the way to screw many things up. There are many less “Ya know what I mean?s” than in Goes to Camp, but Ernest’s version of 'Oh Christmas Tree' is unbelievable.
5. Santa Clause 2- This second Santa Clause is even better than the first. Coming out eight years after the original, Tim Allen has been doing a great job as Santa but finds out he needs to have a wife, due to the ‘Mrs. Clause.’ The Tool Man’s son’s principal is a nice lady that he finds attractive and decides this is the woman to become Mrs. Claus. The future Mrs. Claus happens to be Dr. Juliet Burke, so now we know what she was doing before ending up Lost on an island (making toys at the North Pole). What makes it better than the original is what I call the toy story 2 factor. When Santa has to leave to find a wife he puts a fake Santa toy in charge of the workshop. The fake Santa is ridiculously hilarious and propels this movie into the top 5.
Fantasy Survivor Week 11
So the kid's team is finally coming around with Bob's two victories this week. It will most likely be too little too late with Mags's huge lead, but it feels good anyway. This week these idiots needed to get Matty out of there. There is no reason to get rid of Corrine, she hasn't come close to winning any competition yet. Their thought process is still based on alliance (we need to get rid of Bob and Corrine). If you do that you're going to have to turn on each other after. Why not do that now and get rid of the strongest competitor, Matty, while you have a good chance?

Best Christmas Movies 10-8
10. National Lampoons Christmas Vacation- Although it is not in the same ballpark as its cousin, Vegas Vacation, Clark W. Griswold always does the trick. Clark talking to his cousin Eddie- “Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?” Eddie’s response- “Naw, I'm doing just fine, Clark.”
9. The Santa Clause- Santa Clause was a pioneer in the story of Santa. Tim Allen finds Santa dead in his front lawn after falling off the roof. Allen then has to become Santa due to the ‘Santa Clause.’ Although the kid sometimes comes close to ruining this movie, there are a lot of funny things about a guy turning fat before your very eyes. Add Judge Reinhold into the mix and it is a quality family film.
8. Scrooged- Here we have a modernization of the Christmas Carol story. Bill Murray is a rich jerk in a television programming executive position. When he gets the job to make a live broadcast of A Christmas Carol, his life begins to reflect the story. He is visited by the ghosts and all of the normal plot lines from the original story are involved. The bonus is that Murray is hilarious and much better than any Scrooge before or after him. This Christmas I’m giving all of my loved ones either a vhs home video recorder or a bath towel.

Best Christmas Movies 15-11
One of the best parts about the month of December leading up to Christmas is watching Christmas movies. I plan on watching most of these movies before December 25th. I'll admit that some of the top 5 will probably be watch on numerous occasions. My Top 15 Christmas movies are all movies that deal with the holiday season directly, so films like The Family Man, Love Actually and Trapped in Paradise were not considered.
15. Santa Who?- Santa Who? Is a made for TV movie starring Leslie Nielson as Santa Claus. He goes out for a sleigh ride and falls out of the sky, hitting his head, and getting amnesia. It is definitely worth a watch if only to listen to Leslie’s fantastic jolly laugh.
14. The Muppet Christmas Carol- The Henson version of A Christmas Carol is the same old story of Ebenezer Scrooge. The great Michael Caine plays Scrooge, while all of the muppets fill in with the other regular roles. Kermit is the obvious Bob Crachit and Gonzo narrates the movie as Charles Dickens himself.
13. Christmas Do-Over- This is another made for tv classic with Jay Mohr in the lead. It is the Christmas version of Groundhog Day, as Jay relives Christmas over and over again. There are a lot of the same effects as in the Bill Murray film, but obviously much worse. As in a lot of movies, the fact that this is poorly written and acted makes it a very fun watch for me.
12. It’s a Wonderful Life- This 1946 film will be in most people’s top five Christmas movies lists, but it doesn’t make the grade for me. Don’t get me wrong...it is a quality film, but if not for Jimmy Stewart’s fantastic voice, it might not make my top fifteen.
11. Mickey’s Christmas Carol- The Disney version of A Christmas Carol is a notch ahead of the Muppets probably because I watched it more as a kid (and for my Disney love). The story of Ebenezer Scrooge gets long and boring for me sometimes, so the 24 minute run-time is perfect in this short film. Mickey as Bob Crachit is another obvious choice, while Jiminy Cricket as the Ghost of Christmas Past is just fantastic casting.

Cooley at Disney
What do NFL players do during their bye weeks? Chris Cooley and Jason Campbell go to Disney World and hang out. It was Cooley's first trip to the parks and his favorite attraction was Soarin'. Good choice Chris.

One Tree Hill
This post is long overdue, but I have finally caught all the way up with One Tree Hill. Over the past three months I have watched five full seasons, and the first nine episodes of season six.
Like any show with young-ish actors the first half of the first season is a bit of a small struggle, but well worth it. One Tree Hill has grabbed my heart and my stomach more than any show on television. The characters are great, the stories are also, and the use of music is fantastic. The antagonist, Dan Scott is so evil and yet so lovable, which only brings tremendously mixed emotions to many episodes. As a former basketball player, the running basketball theme of the show is a great added bonus. If you're currently a fan of Gossip Girl, and don't watch it solely for the comic relief of the outfits worn by Chuck and Blaire, you should do yourself a favor and watch One Tree Hill. When I sit and think about it, it is crazy that I now have a tough time deciding which is best teen drama of all time.
But of course, here are my rankings...
(gaps are used to show how much more I like each show)

Fantasy Survivor Week 8
Another big move in this week's episode. After the tribes were rearranged for the second time, there were three Kotas and two Fangs on each squad. Kota lost the immunity challenge so they had to go to tribal council and send someone home. Marcus, Bob and Susie were the only members of Kota left. Crystal and Kenny were the Fang members joining Kota for the first time. With Marcus wanting to get rid of Kenny, he told Susie that was what they were going to do. Susie, being an outsider of Kota while she was there, made the good (or bad) move of going with Fang's Crystal and Kenny and voted out Marcus. No bonus points because she never had a deal, but a big move never the less.
